To the Editor:  State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz sent two troubling emails to constituents after the most recent eruption of violence in Israel/Palestine. In his Oct. 12 email, Mr. Dinowitz dishonestly mischaracterized Jewish Voice for Peace, a group I have belonged to for almost a decade.  more

To the editor: (re: “Tell Albany it’s time to support local journalism,” March 23) Your recent editorial made sense. Most communities are down to one local daily or weekly newspaper. Newspapers have to deal with increasing costs for newsprint, delivery and distribution, along with reduced advertising revenues and competition from the internet and other news information sources. more
As we close out yet another Black History Month, let’s take a moment to celebrate the many contributions African-Americans have made to the country. They’ve done this despite discrimination and oppression — something even the Bronx, in the past, was not immune to. more
New York City was built on the backs of working-class New Yorkers; people like my mother, Dorothy Mae Adams, a single mother who worked multiple jobs to support my five siblings and myself. She sacrificed everything for us, and I know that there are thousands of New Yorkers doing the same today in our city for their families. more
Now that $200 million in state and city funding has been secured for another proposed redevelopment of the beleaguered Kingsbridge Armory, neighbors, activists and local electeds need to make sure the outcome is a positive one this time. more
