Film club

The Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture will show Foul Play at the society meeting house, located at 4450 Fieldston Road, at 7 p.m.

The film is the story of librarian Gloria Mundy (Goldie Hawn) who stumbles on a plan to kill the Pope, who will be visiting soon. When she finds out that she is marked for death, she goes to detective Tony Carlson (Chevy Chase) for help. Together, they set out to unravel the murder plot with often-hilarious results. Running time for the film is 116 minutes.

Movies begin with an introduction and are followed by a discussion. A donation towards the film club of $3 to $5 per person will be accepted at the door. The film club’s next selections will be The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe on Saturday, Dec. 5 and Pan’s Labyrinth on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Family art

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, presents a family art project, “Papermaking Party/ Fiesta de papel” from 1 to 4 p.m. on the grounds in The Sally and Gilbert Kerlin Learning Center.

Papermaker Randy Brozen will teach participants about the ancient art of papermaking. They will recycle paper and fibers into new, colorful sheets and shapes, while incorporating dried leaves and other natural materials into the creation.

The program is free with paid admission to the grounds and will be repeated Sunday, Nov. 29.

Garden walk

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host a tour of its seasonal garden highlights, at 2 p.m.

Participants should meet at the Perkins Visitor Center. The tour is free with paid admission to the grounds.

Gallery tour

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host one of its regularly scheduled exhibition interpreter-led tours, at 2 p.m.

Participants should meet at the Glyndor Gallery on the garden grounds. On display will be “The Muhheakantuck in Focus: Contemporary artists look at ‘the river that flows both ways’” through projects that explore the First Nations’ engagement with the river and the impact of Henry Hudson’s arrival. John Morton and Jacqueline Shatz’s “The Voyage Out,” a collaborative installation based on the music box, a sonic and visual meditation on Darwin’s journey of exploration, will also be shown.

Tours are ongoing and take place Wednesdays and Thursdays at noon, and at 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

They are free with paid admission to the grounds.
