THE AMERICAN Museum of Natural History, located at Central Park West and 79th Street, presents the following special attractions:
- Beavers, now playing in the Lefrak IMAX Theater, follows a pair of these industrious creatures and chronicles their daily activities, as well as the dangers they face, after leaving the shelter of their colony in search of a site to build a dam and start their own family. This award-winning giant screen production brings audiences closer than ever to these shy, mysterious creatures that have been steadfastly reshaping the landscapes of the planet for eons.
- Journey to the Stars, the Hayden Planetarium’s latest space show, launches viewers through time and space to experience the life and death of the stars in our night sky, starting with the first stars being born 13 billion years ago on up to the eventual demise of the sun five billion years in the future. The film, which is narrated by actress Whoopi Goldberg, combines extraordinary images from telescopes with never-before-seen simulated visualizations, allowing audience members to tour stellar formations, explore new celestial mysteries and discover the fascinating, unfolding story that connects people to the stars.
