Women’s panel
The New York Botanical Garden, located at East 200th Street and Kazimiroff Boulevard, will host a panel discussion featuring successful young women, at 10 a.m.
Sponsored by acting Bronx Borough President Earl Brown and the garden, the event features Isabel Toledo, who designed the outfit Michelle Obama wore to her husband’s inauguration; Liz Murray, author of Breaking Night: A Memoir, and Leanna Archer, considered New York’s youngest chief executive officer.
The event is free, but seating is limited.

Big read
The Bronx Council of the Arts will begin celebrating “The Big Read” with a free kick-off reception and marathon reading of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird from 6 to 8:45 p.m. at The Bronx Library Center, 310 E. Kingsbridge Road. The program is presented in partnership with The New York Public Library, Barnes & Noble Baychester, Bronx Community College and The New York Times. The BCA will celebrate To Kill a Mockingbird with a full calendar of events through Saturday, April 18.

Gallery tour
An exhibition interpreter will lead a tour of the exhibit “Arbores Venerabiles” at Wave Hill, West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, at noon in the Glyndor Gallery.
The exhibition is part of Wave Hill’s celebration “2009 Year of the Trees” and includes artists’ drawing and paintings inspired by the garden’s trees. Artists include: Joel Adas, Rebecca Allan, Sandra Allen, Joan Backes, Isabel Bigelow, Emily Brown, Diane Carr, Jill Lear, Andrew Millner, Stas Orlovski, Ilene Sunshine and Amy Talluto.
There will be another tour on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.
The event is free with admission to the grounds.
