Folk concert
The Whitehall Club Ballroom, located at 3333 Henry Hudson Parkway, will host Work o’ The Weavers, a folk quartet and Weavers cover group, at 7 p.m.
Work o’ The Weavers will present a sing-along show, playing mostly songs by The Weavers, the band after which they are named, and a few original tunes.
The group will be introduced by Bob Sherman, popular WFUV-FM radio host of the long-running program devoted to folk music, “Woody’s Children.” Sherman will stay on for a Q&A session at the end of the concert. Last year’s program was highlighted by a surprise appearance of original Weaver’s founder and folk music icon, Pete Seeger, who led the group in several songs to close out the concert.
Admission is $18 for adults and $10 for children under 10. Light refreshments are included with admission.

Educator info
Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, presents an educator open house from noon to 3 p.m., starting in the Glyndor Gallery.
This event gives participants the chance to meet with Wave Hill’s Education and Visual Arts staff to learn about the tour and workshop opportunities available for schools.
There will be a “Sunroom Artist Talk” with Audrey Hasen Russell at 1 p.m. and a garden tour at 2 p.m.
The event is free with paid admission to the grounds.

Ethical leader
The Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, located at 4450 Fieldston Road, will welcome its new leader at its opening platform in the society meeting house at 11 a.m.
James Garrett White will speak and share his vision. Mr. White was born in Charlottesville, Va., is married and has two sons and grandsons. He has degrees from Harvard University, Columbia University and New York Law School. He served as Leader of the Essex Society for Ethical Culture in New Jersey for eight years.
He will lead the introduction, followed by a dance interlude by Noora Sgans from the peace group World Peace One Falafel at a Time and a potluck luncheon. Khalid Isa, co-president of the peace group, will deliver a freshly baked falafel for each participant.
The meeting is free and open to the public. There will be a potluck lunch afterward.

Musical audition
The Riverdale Repertory Company, Riverdale YMYWHA’s resident theater company for adults located at 5625 Arlington Ave., will hold auditions from 7 to 9 p.m.
Shows under consideration for the group’s performance include My Fair Lady, The Full Monty, and The Sound of Music.
There will be another rehearsal Monday, Sept. 14 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Historic concerts
Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host the first in its series of Hudson River Historic Concerts at Wave Hill at 2 p.m.
The first concert will feature Vassily Primakov on piano in an all-Chopin program originally performed by Ignacy Paderewski in 1922. Andrew Appel will give a pre-concert talk at 1:30 p.m. entitled “A History of Performance and American Taste.”
The series will explore the tradition of European performing artists who used the Hudson River as a touring highway. Interpreters will revisit four historic programs, recreating concerts and readings. Pianists Jeffrey Swann and Marija Stroke, violinist Curtis Macomber and actor Reed Birney, under the direction of Steven Hamilton, will reinterpret landmark performances of the past in Wave Hill’s historic Armor Hall in this ongoing event. The series continues Sunday, Oct. 4.
Tickets cost $15 for members; $24 for nonmembers; $21 for seniors 65 and over, as well as students. The price includes admission to the grounds.

Candle making
Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, presents a candle-making drop-in session as part of its Honey Weekend from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Ecology Building.
Participants can try their hands at creating an assortment of beeswax candles to take home and enjoy.
There is a $15 fee for materials. Registration not required but the workshop will only be available while supplies last.

Ramadan diner
World Peace One Falafel at a Time, located at Sqweez Juice Bar & Grill at the Sky Club Pool, 5701 Arlington Ave., will host a Ramadan diner at 7:30 p.m.
The diner is an opportunity for people of different faiths and backgrounds (especially Jews, Arabs and Muslims) to get to know each other over common foods.
