Riverdalian's toy wins accolades
The Sockett Kit, a puppet-making kit created by Riverdale resident Tiger Kandel and her business partner Heather Schloss, was just awarded Creative Child Magazine's 2007 Toy of the Year Award.
The two women, who are visual artists and art therapists, started the company, Tigercandy Arts, Inc.
They created The Sockett Kit to allow children to stretch the limits of their imaginations, while also fulfilling education and therapeutic needs.
The package comes with three colorful blank Socketts (with working felt mouths), and a variety of soft felt, stiff felt, yarn, feathers, pom-poms, craft foam, faux fur and foam shapes.
It also includes craft glue, creating suggestions and photos, and comes in a cardboard carry-house that kids can decorate. It is recommended for ages 6 and older.
