I would like to know what the properties are assessed, and how much is paid in property taxes.

The land is valuable to the public as a right of way, and should thus be purchased by the authorities, for a plan benefiting the broadest societal use.

That would include not only a trail, but also ultimately maintain space for at least two RR tracks, and an eventual Deegan modernization including full shoulders and on ramp/off ramp axillary lane and an extra through lane in each direction, that includes a deck atop tying into the existing brief deck in the vicinity of W 231st Street with girder extensions and replaced-relocated median center supports, adorned with the existing architectural facades.

A trail could be initially provided upon the existing right of way, and later relocated upon the subsequent Deegan upgrade project deck that would provide a new linear park. Such a deck would make the adjacent area far friendlier for adding far more new real estate development than that which would have to be removed, as portions of the recently built retail complexes just north of W 230rd Street, and south of W 238th Street, plus that one particularly badly placed residential building immediately to the north.

If only we could have some political leadership for such more holistic long term planning.
