• Every other Thursday, VCTC will host a 5k race as part of its annual XC summer series. Races will take place on Thursdays, June 7, June 21, July 5, July 19, Aug. 2 and Aug. 16. Individual races cost $5 and the two-person relay on Thursday, July 5 costs $10 per team. Go to www.vctc.org to register. 

• On June 24, the 2nd Annual VCTC 5k run/ 2-mile walk cancer challenge will take place in Van Cortlandt Park. The race begins at the Van Cortlandt Park Stadium near West 242nd Street. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the race begins at 11 a.m. It costs $25 or $35 with a T-shirt to sign up online before Sunday, June 10 or  $30,  $40 with a T-shirt, on the day of the race. Go to www.vctc.org to register. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
