The Animals, the South Riverdale Little League’s 12 years old and under team, swept a double-header against Pelham on Sept. 22.
Excellent pitching, lots of hitting and sturdy defense produced 10-0 and 17-1 victories for the Animals.
With their double-dip win, the Animals moved to 5-0 in the Westchester Baseball Association’s (WBA) Fall 2012 standings.
Zack Farber and Jordan Tallerman, the starting pitchers in the two games, did not allow an earned run.
Farber, the game one hurler, did not allow a single hit while striking out eight batters in the four innings he pitched.
Tallerman was also impressive, striking out five batters while allowing only three hits. Griffin O’Keefe pitched a perfect inning in relief as the Animals pitchers baffled the Pelham hitters in both games.
The Animals had plenty of offense, led by Brian Alberts’ pair of doubles and a home run; Jared Gonzalez, with four hits; Kenneth Rodriguez’s three RBI and Jonathan Katzman, who added two hits and two RBI.
Ike Fields and Danny Moynihan scored three runs each, and William Rybka got on base several times.
With only a third of the season gone, the Animals look forward to more fall ball. To peruse the team’s entire schedule, go to www.eteamz.com/WBA.
Home games are played on Saturdays at Kappock Field.
