While Mr. Fornal is an expert on Bronx cuisine and has traveled the world in search of exotic foods, he said he’s less familiar with the rest of the nation.

“I really have not had the chance to investigate my own country,” he said, adding that future episodes will take him to the “sleepy and mysterious Bethlehem, Pennsylvania” and to the “full-flavored dry heat of Phoenix, Arizona.”

The style of the show is similar to “Bronx Flavor,” but Mr. Fornal said it is less focused on storyline and more about the food. Baron Ambrosia is still over-the-top.

He said the new show also means new challenges to finding good food.

When he was looking for the next place to highlight in the Bronx, he said he would get in his car and cruise around or talk to friends. Now, he visits cities and scouts areas that might be overlooked.

Although Baron Ambrosia was banished from the Bronx, he said that will only make his return sweeter.

“The Baron can only be away from the Bronx for so long,” he said.

The next episode of “The Culinary Adventures of Baron Ambrosia” will air on Friday, June 8 at 10 p.m on the Cooking Channel.
