Cigarette bum turns violent

 Police said two 19-year-old males were sitting in a car on Knolls Crescent at midnight on May 19, when the passenger was robbed at knifepoint. 

The alleged victim said he and the driver had just picked up food on West 231st Street and Broadway and were talking inside the parked car when somebody approached the passenger side window and said, “You got a stogie?”

He reported that after he handed over a cigarette, the person pulled out a knife, placed it against his right temple and said, “Give me the money” and then “Give me your wallet.”

Police said the victim handed over his wallet containing $20 in cash and credit cards. The alleged robber fled south on foot.

The case remains open.

2. iPhone jacked at Majestic

A 20-year-old reported that his iPhone was stolen outside the Majestic — 3660 Waldo Ave. — at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. 

The victim reported that an unknown person wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans punched him in the face and the body, removed his iPhone from his person and fled, according to police.

Police said they are looking for a six-foot, 180-pound black male.

The case remains open. 

3. Brazen afternoon burglary

A 69-year-old man told police that two men entered through the front door of his 3345 Sedgwick Ave. apartment and removed property on May 15, at 4:30 p.m.

Police said the victim’s 26-year-old grandson saw two men inside the apartment before they fled through the front door with jewelry valued at $2,000. 

The case remains open. 

4. Cash and jewelry stolen

A 52-year-old woman told police that she returned to her apartment at 85 Strong St. at 9:30 p.m. on May 17, to discover that her locks had been tampered with and that property had been removed from her bedroom.
She also reported that her bedroom window was open.

Police said the thief got away with jewelry and $2,000 in cash. 

The case remains open.

5. TV and charger taken

A 26-year-old woman returned to her home at 2849 Webb Ave. at 11 p.m. on May 18, to find her front door unlocked and her 22-inch Phillips television and iPod charger missing. Police said she reported that the lock on her fire escape window was broken.  

The case remains open.
