Police arrested a New Jersey high school student on May 6 for allegedly raping a Manhattan College freshman in her Riverdale dorm room last month.

Kevin Convery, 18, of Wyckoff, New Jersey, was charged with rape, forcible touching and sexual abuse.

Investigators say the victim, whose name was undisclosed to protect her privacy, and Mr. Convery met at Manhattan College’s Spring Concert on April 25. The crime allegedly took place that evening in the victim’s dorm room, at 4513 Manhattan College Parkway.

A criminal complaint states the victim repeatedly told the defendant, “I do not want to have sex” and, “I told you no.” The victim also pushed the defendant off of her with her arms and leg, according to the document.

The victim reported the incident the day it happened, according to a Manhattan College spokesman.

“The college provided immediate assistance to the student who made the report and provided assistance to the student’s family. Our immediate concern in such instances is the health and safety of the student and we continue to cooperate fully with the New York Police Department,” read a statement from the college.

Mr. Convery was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on Tuesday, June 23. A spokesman for the Bronx District Attorney’s Office said what happens at the hearing will depend on how the defense decides to proceed.

Mr. Convery’s lawyer did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
