Deliveryman evades robber

1. Police said an unknown person ordered delivery from King’s Wok Chinese Restaurant to 2691 Reservoir Ave. on Jan. 27 at 11:20 p.m.  When the delivery person, a 29-year-old man, arrived at the lobby of the building, a suspect attacked him and tried to take the food away.

After resisting, the victim was able to avoid being robbed before his assailant fled the scene on foot.

Cameras on site capture the incident and the case is open to detectives.

2. Chevy stolen

A 61-year-old woman went on vacation on Jan. 11 and left her 2006 Chevy Cobalt parked on the corner of Johnson and Irwin Avenues, according to authorities. When she returned on Jan. 30, her car was gone, and a police canvas of the area could not locate it.

Police say the car was worth $6,000 and that the case is closed to the detective squad.

3. Restaurant burglary

An unknown number of perpetrators broke into the Beccofino Restaurant at 5704 Mosholu Ave. and stole $200 out of the cash register sometime on Sunday, according to police.

The restaurant had been closed for the night when the burglars broke in through the front door.  The owner told police that there were no cameras on scene and the case is open to detectives.

4. Speeder packs knives

Police said they stopped a 41-year-old man in front of 3545 Jerome Ave. for speeding at 11:15 p.m. on Jan. 30, police. After a search, officers found that the defendant was operating on a suspended license.

In addition, they found a switchblade, two gravity knives and a pair of brass knuckles in the man’s 2013 Dodge Challenger.

The defendant was arrested and charged with speeding, unlawful operation of a vehicle and criminal possession of a weapon.
