According to his website, Mr. Grimaldi’s political platform includes ending world hunger, education reform, world peace, ending excessive military spending, balancing the budget, reforming the immigration system, dissolving the electoral college, dissolving the U.S. Senate and installing term limits for congressmen, among other things. His website banner also asks voters to elect him president of the United States.

Mr. Grimaldi is not registered with the Federal Elections Commission, according to the most recent reports on Monday. Mr. Engel has more than $220,000 cash on hand and has not been spending a lot on the primary.

Espada’s next trial

Former state Sen. Pedro Espada and his son pleaded not guilty in his other trial on June 12. The former Senate Majority Leader who represented Kingsbridge, Kingsbridge Heights and a slice of Riverdale is charged with failing to file his taxes and making false statements to government agencies.

Mr. Espada has decided to use a new attorney for this trial after he was found guilty of four counts of theft in a trial last month. A jury found that he stole $448,000 from the Soundview Healthcare Network he founded. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is trying to get Mr. Espada to return that amount to Soundivew.

Mr. Espada used a public defender during his appearance last week, but was given until Monday, July 9 to find new lawyers.

Stanton’s tweets

Cliff Stanton’s campaign launched a website recently and Mr. Stanton has been actively campaigning for City Council via Twitter.

In 140 characters or less, Mr. Stanton has been weighing in on many controversial issues (from super-local to citywide to national) on the social networking website that allows users to broadcast messages.

Here’s a few of the highlights so far.

On Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s big soda ban:

“We may not agree with his prescription, but Bloomberg should be commended for proposing a real, if partial, solution to the obesity problem.”

Does the Bronx Matter yes but only if you are living in an area where the majority of the people are Hispanics?

I have lived in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx (actually between Bailey Avenue and Albany Crescent) and I have to tell you that not only do we not count as part of the Bronx we don’t even count as part of the Kingsbridge Business Development Group. Can tell you now that when it comes to politicians they never come to even ask for our votes? For the three terms that Bloomberg has been in office he has never once came near this section of the Bronx. Does this surprise anyone who lives here? Hell no. You must remember that we do not enough of those who are known as Hispanics. Think about it who represents the Bronx, Fernando Ferrerr, Robert Ramirez Adirano Espaillat, Gustavo Rivera, and Adolfo Carrion are all only interested in their people (and Fererr has said so on many occasions). You see this area of Kingsbridge is made up of majority of white and blacks who are lower and middle middle class so we don’t count.

I personally think that we should send all of these non English speaking people back to where it is they think they come from. Although to the best of my knowledge they have made it clear they do not know what country they come from since they are so mixed up. But still lets send them away.
