Encourage girls to play soccer

I fully agree with everything Isabel Angell said in her Point of view column “Fight for women’s soccer not over” (July 16). But while continuing to watch and support women’s professional soccer is helpful, Ms. Angell omitted the most important thing you can do to promote women’s soccer: Encourage your daughters to PLAY soccer. 

The Riverdale Soccer Club has been running a girls soccer league since 1998, and up to 300 girls ages 6 through 14 play with us every spring and fall. We are currently still accepting registrations for the fall season, although some age groups are already full. You can get more information about our programs and registering for them at our web site, www.riverdalesoccerclub.org. (And we of course have programs for boys as well.)
