A former DeWitt Clinton student confessed to strangling a teacher with whom he had an affair while in school and their 4-year-old child, officials said.

Felicia Barahona, 36, was strangled to death and small Miguel died of “asphyxia due to neck compression,” the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined, spokeswoman Julie Bolcer said in an email. Both deaths were ruled as homicides.

Her former student and boyfriend confessed to killing Ms. Barahona and the child he fathered with her, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said Wednesday in remarks broadcast by NY1 television. Initial media reports identified the suspect as Isaac Duran or Isaac Infante, but a subsequent police statement cited by media reports identified him as Isaac Duran Infante, 23.

“He admitted to us he went there ... to end the life of Felicia Barahona. While he was there, he decided to end his son's life as well," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said.

Ms. Barahona, a former science teacher at DeWitt Clinton, was fired in 2012 for sleeping with a student after she gave birth to his child and bought wedding rings, according to documents obtained by The Press from the Office of the Special Commissioner of Investigation under the freedom of information law in 2013.

The student told investigators his former teacher asked him not to wear a condom, according to the documents. After she gave birth in 2012, Ms. Barahona invited her former student to move in with her, but kicked him out after returning from work to find him drunk, according to investigation materials obtained by The Press.

The bodies of Ms. Barahona her son were found Monday in their Harlem apartment, after residents complained about a smell coming from the unit, the DNAInfo news portal reported.

The suspect, who lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, resented having to pay child support, news reports cited unidentified officials as saying.

Security video captured Mr. Duran entering and exiting the apartment building, the Daily News reported, adding that he faces two counts of murder and is being held without bail.
