Fix Palisade Avenue now

Posted

To the editor:

Thank you to David Zielenziger for his April 30 letter to the editor (“Dangerous driving conditions”) regarding the dangerous driving conditions on Palisade Avenue. We are grateful that he has brought attention to the dangerous and unsafe conditions of this street.

Palisade Avenue is not only in poor condition, but also poses a serious health risk to residents and patients who travel by ambulance to and from the hospital. Our residents are frail and elderly and are put in jeopardy by the massive potholes and uneven surfaces on this street every day. With the Riverdale train station located right off of this street, countless pedestrians literally put their life in jeopardy walking to and from the train, forced off the road by swerving vehicles, dodging dips, depressions and faults in the road.

I hope Mr. Zielenziger’s letter is read by the city’s Department of Transportation, and that swift action is taken to pave Palisade Avenue before someone gets seriously hurt.
