T’hillat Shabbat

Riverdale Temple, located at 4545 Independence Ave., will host a T’hillat Shabbat service at 7:30 p.m.

T’hillat Shabbat is led by Rabbi Judith Lewis and Cantor Leslie Friedlander. Everyone is invited to help fill the sanctuary with music, prayer and song.

Photography class

Author and photographer Benjamin Swett will lead a class on photography in the final of three sessions at Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participants in the event, which will focus on Wave Hill’s summer landscape, should meet at Wave Hill House. The three-session series explores the components of a successful photograph, drawing on student work, prepared slides, field exploration and outdoor shooting assignments.

Three sessions cost $70 for members and $90 for nonmembers. Registration is required. A new series, held on consecutive Fridays, begins July 10 and continues July 17 and 24.
