Humans of the Northwest Bronx

Posted

They are ice cream vendors and sandwich makers, dog walkers and super soakers, artists and soccer players, grandmothers and high school graduates. They are all like us, humans of the northwest Bronx.

After all, it’s the everyday person who is affected by the stories we cover. It can be easy to lose that connection between the driver and the road under repair, or the shopper and the new mall, or the new city law and the store manager it affects.

Unfortunately, these portraits often fall on the newsroom floor when the hard-hitting pictures of news and sports and crime and politics make the cut. This week, we’re focusing on the people that make our slice of New York what it is. Perhaps these portraits can remind us that we’re all in this together.

These pictures were inspired by Humans of New York, a photo project by Brandon Stanton. For more information, visit www.humansofnewyork.com.
