Really bad first date

1. One man’s plans for his first encounter with a friend he had met online went terribly wrong when he went to see her in person – and was attacked and robbed in the hallway of her apartment building.

Police say the 33-year-old went to 2829 Sedgwick Ave. on Jan. 3 to meet a Facebook friend, when two men attacked him just outside the stairwell on the third floor.

The victim briefly escaped his attackers but was soon caught in the lobby of the building where the pair continued their beat down, before taking North Face backpack and textbooks and fleeing into a black van parked outside.

Police say they arrested one 21-year-old suspect in connection to the incident. There was no word on whether the victim’s belongings were recovered.

This case is closed to detectives.

One rough day

Jan. 4, 2017 was a rough day in the 50th precinct, with three crimes that stood out among the rest.

2. A T.J. Maxx employee had her purse stolen while she was working at the chain’s 171 W. 230th St. store, police said.

They said the victim, 45, stowed her purse in an employee locker at the start of her shift, but when she returned, someone had forced the way in and taken the purse, along with credit cards and identification cards.

This case is open to detectives.

3. A couple’s garage was broken into while they were at home on the same day, according to police.

Police said the perpetrator broke into a garage attached to the home at 5041 Goodridge Ave. at around 9 p.m. and took a car without anyone noticing.

One of the victims, a 41-year-old woman, said her husband left their 2016 Lexus unlocked in the garage with the keys inside.

When they went to check on the $71,000 vehicle come morning, it was gone.  The case, which police are treating as a burglary, remains open to investigation. Police have placed an alarm out on the vehicle.

4. Police say an unidentified perpetrator broke into an unattended vehicle and made off with a wallet in the span of just four minutes while the owner was gone.

A 54-year-old man left his car unattended with one of the windows partially open on Jan. 4, while he ran into a store on the corner of W. 225th Street and Marble Hill Avenue.

While the owner was in the store, an unknown perpetrator was able to make off with the man’s wallet, along with identification and credit cards.

This grand larceny case is open to detectives.

Minivan stolen

5. A Kingsbridge man told police someone had stolen his 2000 Honda Odyssey last week.

The victim, 64, told police he parked the minivan on the corner of Sedgwick and Goulden avenues on Jan. 7, but when he returned the following day, it was gone.

Police say there were no cameras on scene and a canvass yielded no results.

This case is closed but there is alarm out for the missing vehicle.
