Let’s keep out those who want to keep out Muslims

Alvin Gordon writes in this week’s Riverdale Press (Letters, September 29, 2016), that we cannot easily distinguish between peaceful Muslims and violent jihadists. He is correct. Unfortunately we also cannot easily tell the difference between peaceful, good natured Gordons and violent, dangerous Gordons. Don’t get me wrong: I have known many Gordons in my life. I have quite a few Gordons who I consider friends. There have, however, been a few Gordons who have proven to be dangerous and even violent. As it is impossible to tell the good, safe Gordons from the rare, violent, dangerous Gordons, the wisest thing to do (as Alvin has pointed out) is to ban all Gordons, keep them out, until we can safely separate them.
