Minimum wage not enough to join middle class

To the editor:

In the Jan. 15 Political arena column, United States Representative Eliot Engel is quoted as saying, “...I also hope that as we begin a new year House Republicans will seriously consider other economic measures to help the middle class, like raising the minimum wage.” If Engel believes those making the minimum wage are middle class, I have to ask what decade his brain is in?
