Monday morning garbage at Van Cortlandt Park

To the editor:

I am offended and disgusted at what I see on the picnic grounds in Van Cortlandt Park adjacent to Broadway and 242nd Street after every summer weekend. Garbage, more garbage and vermin! No amount of trash baskets and black garbage bags currently situated in the immediate area can accommodate the huge amount of trash created by the throngs of weekend picnickers.

It seems to me, a simple solution might be in acquiring two large commercial-size dumpsters, as those used at construction sites all over the city. It certainly would be more efficient than having a few city workers meandering around at 6 a.m. with their rakes and shovels.
