Summer talks The Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture will host “Summer Conversations” at the Society Meeting House, located at 4450 Fieldston Road, on Sundays, at 11 a.m. Participants are invited to share ideas and conversations on theme-based talks facilitated by board member Stefan Mayer. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch and participate in the “Greet and Eat” after the conversation. Outdoor studio Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, hosts artists’ circles on Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants are invited to capture the beauty of Wave Hill’s landscape through the medium of their choice in these open-air studio sessions. Wave Hill provides easels, attendees bring paper or canvas and artmaking materials. All levels are welcome and new artists are encouraged. Each session costs $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Drop-in program Riverdale Neighborhood House, located at 5521 Mosholu Ave., is now open five mornings a week from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., for the drop-in program. The licensed “Drop-In Program” is an opportunity for parents to drop off their children for three hours if they have a doctor’s appointment, an emergency, need to run errands or just take a break. The service is open to children 18 months and walking to 3 years old. The fee is $35 per day for members, and $40 per day for non-members. For more information, call 718-549-8100 ext. 128. Nature stories Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will present Stories in the Garden, on Tuesdays, at 11 a.m. Each week, a “mystery reader” from Wave Hill’s staff shares a nature story with youngsters in a shady nook of the garden. The sessions are held outdoors only and are weather dependent.
