1. Playground robbery

Police said two men, one armed with a knife, stole a 14-year-old’s iPhone and a small amount of cash while the boy was playing at the Strong Street Playground in Kingsbridge Heights on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The first suspect, described as a black male, about 18 years old and 5-feet-5, pointed the knife at the victim and demanded his money and property.  The other perpetrator, a 20-year-old black male about 5-feet-6 and 160 pounds, took the victim’s iPhone 6, worth $729, and $5 cash. The victim told police that the suspects told him to turn off iCloud before handing them the phone so that he could not use the “Find My iPhone” app to located the robbers.

The case remains open to detectives.

2. Theft at construction site

Thousands of dollars worth of construction equipment was stolen from the Granite Works Inc. construction site, located on Gun Hill Road from Van Cortlandt Park West to Jerome Avenue on Jan. 18, according to police.

They said an unknown number of perpetrators stole an air compressor valued at $14,000.

The grand larceny case is still open to detectives.

3. Caught on camera

Police said burglars stole $6,200 in cash and another $1,400 worth of property from a 2770 Kingsbridge Ave. home earlier this month.

On Jan. 22, a 28-year-old woman told authorities her home was burglarized while she was staying at her mother’s home and her husband was overseas. Video surveillance showed one burglar breaking into the victim’s home through the back window and then letting another in through the front door.

The case remains open to the detective squad.

4. Car break-in

Thieves stole an entire sound system from a 2005 Honda Pilot while it was parked opposite 170 W. 233rd St., according to police.

The victim told the police that sometime between 10 p.m. on Jan. 18, when he parked his car, and 1:15 p.m. the following day, an unknown number of suspects stole three JVC speakers and a Clarion equalizer.

Video surveillance indicated that the perpetrators entered through the driver’s side front window and took the equipment, which was valued at $1,000.

The case remains open to detectives

5. More wheels stolen

Police said the recent streak of stolen rims and wheels continued last week when suspects took the tires off a 2010 Acura TL parked at the corner of the Henry Hudson Parkway and Manhattan College Parkway.

The incident took place sometime between Jan. 21 and 6:15 a.m. the following day. The rims and wheels were valued at $8,000 total, and the case is still open to detectives.
