1. Bad sport

Police said a 29-year-old man was playing basketball on a court at the northwest corner of West 234th Street and Bailey Avenue on Aug. 16 at 1:45 p.m. when he was approached by a man who asked him if he could play with him.

After the victim declined, the man punched him in the left eye.  

The assault case is open to detectives. 

2. Movers and takers

A 27-year-old woman was moving to her new apartment on 5282 Post Road near Fieldston on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. 

She left multiple bags on the sidewalk and brought her other belongings to her new apartment. 

Police said that when she returned 10 minutes later, all of the bags were gone. The perpetrator stole 30 designer shoes worth $2,000 and a bathroom organizer worth $25. Police are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area. 

The grand larceny case is open to detectives.  

3. Forgery, grass, no license

A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, unlawful possession of marijuana and driving without a valid driver’s license and in an unregistered vehicle on Aug. 14 at 1:49 a.m. 

Police said that the man was driving a 2008 BMW with temporary Nebraska license plates on the southwest corner of Reservoir and Sedgwick avenues. 

When he was pulled over during a traffic stop, he did not have a license. Upon further investigation, police learned that the Nebraska plates were forged. When they searched the BMW, they found marijuana cigars. 

4. Grand larceny arrest

A 44-year-old man was found in possession of burglary tools on the northwest corner of University and Reservoir avenues on Aug. 14 at 12:24 p.m. 

When police arrested the man for a separate incident, they found stolen property that belonged to a 30-year-old man, who had reported the items missing from his vehicle.  

The recovered items included $2,000 in cash, a $1,100 Apple MacBook, a $300 Blackmagic recorder, $120 Sony headphones, a $400 hard drive and an $80 North Face backpack. 

5. Godwin Terrace burglary 

A 23-year-old woman entered a building at 3054 Godwin Terrace on Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. when she noticed that the front door was closed, but unlocked. 

Items missing from the space included Nu Skin weight loss products worth $2,600, a $1,100 DVD player and a printer and computer with patient information. 

Police said that the intruder left behind burglary tools like pliers and box cutters. There were no cameras inside or outside of the location. The incident was reported the following day. 

The case is open to detectives.
