1. Burglary streak underway

While many New Yorkers do their holiday shopping, others are helping themselves to their neighbors’ goods, as a recent series of burglaries in the 50th Precinct shows.

A bad Santa of sorts entered through a fire escape window at 2723 Webb Ave. on Dec. 8 around 11 p.m. and stole a number of possessions from a 22-year-old female victim. The goods included a gold chain valued at $1,000, an Apple computer worth $700 and a gold watch worth $250.

The case remains open to the squad.

2. Unsuccessful break-in

Police said on the same day and street, there was another break-in through a fire escape, but the perpetrator left empty handed.

A report filed at 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 quoted a 35-year-old woman as saying an unknown person entered her apartment at 2725 Webb Ave., damaging her fire escape door, but did not take anything.

The case is still open to detectives.

A community affairs officer said while many buildings on Webb Avenue have security cameras, reports about the two Dec. 8 incidents did not mention cameras at the scenes of the crimes.

3. Vanished Vuitton

Minutes away by foot, there was another robbery on Saturday, according to police.

They said a victim came home to 150 W. 225th St. around 5 p.m. to discover a Louis Vuitton wallet valued at $900 and an Apple iPad worth $400 missing.

A community affairs officer said the victim, 57, had cameras in her home, but they were not working.

The case remains open to detectives.

4. Robbed from behind

Police said a 28-year-old woman was walking on West 195th Street around 6:25 p.m. on Saturday when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her face and covered her mouth.

The perpetrator then took the victim’s Samsung Galaxy S5, valued at $200, and fled the scene. The suspect was described as a 5-foot-5, 130-pound Hispanic male in his twenties.

The case remains open to detectives.

5.  Something borrowed

A 22-year-old woman told police on Dec. 10 that a friend did not return her car after borrowing it for over a week.

According to the report, the victim lent her 2010 white Volkswagon Tiguan to a friend earlier this month, with an agreement for the friend to return the car seven days later.

The victim said after a week passed and her calls to her friend reached an out-of-service number, she reported to the police.

The unauthorized use of a vehicle case remains open to detectives.
