Eligidio Lind, 21, is accused of stabbing his 32-year-old girlfriend to death and killing their 1-month-old daughter, before starting a fire.

Police have had a hard time processing Eligidio Lind. As of press time Tuesday — according to a police source — the 21-year-old man accused of brutally killing his girlfriend, 32-year-old Luisa Rodriguez, and their 1-month old daughter, Angela Rodriguez, has been anything but cooperative.

He resisted having his fingerprints taken, delaying his arraignment for two counts of murder, two counts of manslaughter, two counts of arson and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arrested and transported to central booking from the 50th Precinct Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27, but courts were closed Monday due to weather conditions, which may have delayed his arraignment further.

Firefighters were alerted to a fire at 3034 Albany Crescent at 7:11 p.m. Oct. 25 and got the blaze — contained in apartment 4A — under control in half-an-hour.

Inside, they found the naked body of Luisa Rodriguez stabbed and slashed beneath a burning mattress in the bathroom. First responders pulled Angela out of an unfilled bathtub, said Capt. Kevin Burke, commander of the 50th Precinct.

According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Ms. Rodriguez’s death was caused by multiple stab wounds to the head, neck and torso. Little Angela died from blunt trauma to the head and neck.

Police believe Mr. Lind lit the fire within half-an-hour of the attack to cover the carnage and then crossed the street to report the blaze at the firehouse on Bailey Avenue.

A firefighter placed the unresponsive baby on a car and tried to resuscitate her, in a heroic effort. When the infant remained unconscious, he ran, carrying her to an ambulance bound for Montefiore Medical Center, where the baby was pronounced dead on arrival.

“This was a horrific and senseless crime,” Capt. Burke wrote to The Riverdale Press. “We hope this arrest brings some solace to the [victims’] family.”

Mr. Lind was taken in for questioning after authorities found him at a building on East 105th Street in Manhattan, in the apartment of the mother of another of his children.
