Come join our audience tonight ‘Press’ helps host candidate debatePosted 6/6/12
Let the battle for the Bronx begin. Four candidates for Congressional District 13 will debate live on BronxNet on Monday, June 11, at 9 p.m. The debate, co-sponsored by The Riverdale Press, Norwood News and BronxNet, will air on a special edition of “BronxTalk with Gary Axelbank” in front of a live studio audience. The public is invited to attend and submit questions. The debate will take place at BronxNet studios, located at Lehman College’s Carman Hall, room C4. The public is invited to attend and should enter at the Gate 2 walkway on Goulden Avenue. Doors open at 8 p.m. and limited seating will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Mr. Axelbank will moderate the debate, which will be broadcast on channel 67 (Fios channel 33) and streamed live on www.bronxnet.org. Links to the live stream can also be found at www.riverdalepress.com and norwoodnews.org. Five candidates are vying for the seat, which for decades was an Upper Manhattan-based district represented by Rep. Charles Rangel. After this year’s redistricting, it now reaches into the Bronx and includes Kingsbridge, Kingsbridge Heights, Van Cortlandt Village, Norwood, Bedford Park and University Heights. Four Manhattanites — Craig Schley, Clyde Williams, Joyce Johnson and state Sen. Adriano Espaillat — are now challenging Mr Rangel. Mr. Rangel is the only candidate who has said he cannot attend. The Democratic primary will take place on Tuesday, June 26. For more information, call 718-543-6065.
