1. A helicopter swooped over Kingsbridge on Monday night, searching for a suspect sprinting away from 2840 Bailey Ave., where police initially believed a 13-year-old boy raped a 13-year-old girl.
After the teenager was taken to a hospital, police said she recanted her report to the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit.
Police said the 13-year-old was with her mother when she dialed 9-1-1 from the front of the building just past 10 p.m. She described her alleged assailant as a five-foot ten-inch man wearing a blue Yankee’s hat and a green shirt.
An hour-long aviation search conducted by the 50th and 52nd precincts ensued when police trailed the suspect as he ran into the coverage area of the 52nd Precinct. Officers thought they had him cornered behind 2818 Heath Ave., which is when they dispatched a helicopter. But the suspect escaped.
Meanwhile, the 13-year-old was rushed to a hospital, where she refused to cooperate with the sex crime unit and wouldn’t give authorities any information on the male.
Police said she then recanted her report of the rape.
2. Three teens arrested
Police said three teenage boys knocked a 63-year-old man to the pavement and stole cash and jewelry from him before running away from the corner of Kingsbridge Terrace and West Kingsbridge Road at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The 63-year-old told officers the young men bashed him over the head and hit him before taking his watch, a white necklace with charms, a ring, a bracelet and $60 in cash.
Police arrested two brothers that reside in the 50th Precinct and a third Bronx suspect later that evening. All three now face felony robbery charges.
3. Burglar bags Blackberry
An 18-year-old told police she returned to her 309 Kingsbridge Terrace home at 3 p.m. on June 4 to find her Blackberry cell phone and bling accessories missing.
Police said someone entered her home through the fire escape window — which wasn’t functioning properly — and swiped her phone, a chain, a ring, and earrings, which collectively cost about $1,680.
The case remains open.
