Film club The Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, located at 4450 Fieldston Road, will show Romance and Cigarettes at the Meeting House at 7 p.m. Directed by actor and filmmaker John Tuturro, the movie is about an iron worker (played James Gandolfini) married to a seamstress (played by Susan Sarandon) who he has three children with. After getting caught having an affair with a lingerie shop salesgirl, he is forced to decide what he really wants out of life. The film’s running time is 115 minutes. The Film Club will accept a donation of $3 to $5 per person at the door. For more information, call 718-548-4445. ‘Tasty Tomatoes’ Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host Great Performances chef Marc Spooner for a “Tasty Tomatoes” cooking demonstration at 1 p.m. The chef will present heirloom specialties straight from the farm as part of the ongoing tomato celebration taking place at Wave Hill. Family art Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will present a family art project from 1 to 4 p.m. “Shades of Summer/Tonos Del Verano” will teach participants how to make their own sunglasses so they can look at the scenery through rose, blue, green, or purple colored lenses.
