Some unexpected help in the Bronx

Posted

To the editor,

A few weeks ago, I tripped and fell on uneven sidewalk on West 235th Street and broke my wrist. As my wrist swelled up, I walked into New Sea Win Seafood on West 231st Street for help. Although I have never patronized the store, as soon as I asked, they instantly gave me a large bag of ice, sealed it for me and wished me well.

Similar requests for ice later that day in Manhattan were met with requests for payment. Now that my cast is off and I can write again, I want to commend the kind staff in New Sea Win Seafood and in the Bronx for their responsiveness and caring when seeing a person in need. Thank you!
