Book signing

Garden Photographer Alan Detrick will sign books at The Shop at Wave Hill, located at West 246th Street and Independence Avenue, at 2 p.m.

A noted garden, nature and landscape photographer, he will be on hand to sign Macro Photography for Gardeners and Nature Lovers-The Essential Guide to Digital Techniques.

The event free with paid admission to the grounds.

Lehman band

The Lehman College Community Band will give its first concert of the 2009 summer season, “Fun in the Sun” at 2 p.m.

This event, located at Goulden Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard on campus in the Amphitheater, is free and open to the public

The band will perform a variety of symphonic Pops, Big Band, Broadway favorites and more by Gershwin, Grainger, Goldman, Porter, Sousa, Webber and other noted composers.

In the event of rain or excessive heat, the show will be held in the Lovinger Theatre. Free parking is also available.

Corpus Christi

The Parish of St. Margaret of Cortona, 6000 Riverdale Ave., will hold a traditional procession celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi immediately following the Mass at noon.

The procession will end with a benediction at the church.

Benefit concert

Sonia Marder will perform at a concert to benefit the Riverdale- Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture at 1 p.m. at the Society Meeting House, 4450 Fieldston Road.

She taught at the Manhattan School of Music for 37 years and performed concerts in 20 countries.

The suggested contribution is $10. Children under 12 are free.

River cleaning

The Hutchinson River Restoration Project Clean-Up, a Bronx Week event, will be held at 9 a.m., with volunteers cleaning up the banks of the river. They’ll cover the area from Rodman’s Neck to Turtle Cove.

Supplies will be provided. There is no cost.
