Judaica exhibit

The Derfner Judaica Museum at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, 5901 Palisade Ave., will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today to display “Tradition and Remembrance: Treasures of the Derfner Judaica Museum,” an exhibition that explores the intersections of Jewish history and memory.

The exhibition includes religious art objects from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.

The museum is normally open Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

Broadway hits

Riverdale-based pianist Marilynn Seits will lead a performance of jazz and Broadway hits at 3:15 p.m. at Willow Towers, 355 Pelham Road, in New Rochelle.

The show features Rhea Linda, a vocalist, also from Riverdale, and Geisha Otero, Tom Kraczyk and Jean Young. The set lists include the work of Rogers & Hart, the brothers Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter and others.

Benefit dinner

Riverdale Neighborhood House will honor former Bronx Councilwoman June M. Eisland at its Annual Benefit Dinner at Xaviars on the Hudson restaurant, 71 Water Grant St. in Yonkers.

Ms. Eisland represented the Riverdale community for many years and was a staunch advocate for Riverdale Neighborhood House.

Chamber music

Pianist Valentina Lisitsa will open the Bronx Art Ensemble’s 2009-2010 chamber music series at 3 p.m. with a concert of Brahms, Strauss and Beethoven at 4673 Delafield Avenue in Fieldston. Born in Kiev, Ms. Lisitsa began to study piano at the age of three and performed her first solo recital at four. After her studies — first in Lysenko School of Music and then in Kiev Conservatory — she moved to the United States and shortly thereafter became a citizen. She has performed in the world’s most prestigious concert venues, and among recent collaborations have been tours with Sao Paolo Symphony, the New Zealand Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic and Prague Chamber Orchestras. Two-state talk

The Riverdale YM-YWHA, located at 5625 Arlington Ave., will host a debate from 1 to 3 p.m. on the subject of whether a two-state solution is the answer for Israel at a Parents of North American Israelis meeting. The public is welcome and there is no charge. Light refreshments will be served.
