Sunroom exhibit

Wave Hill, West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will unveil a new collaborative exhibition by artists John Morton and Jacqueline Shatz, in the Sunroom Project Space, today, Thursday, Nov. 5.

For their project, titled “The Voyage Out,” the artists created a unique diorama that acts as a sonic and visual meditation on Charles Darwin’s legendary voyage aboard the HMS Beagle. The installation is housed inside an antique-style museum case and it incorporates spoken text, music boxes, field recordings, computer sound manipulation and a collaged model of the HMS Beagle. Viewers are invited to turn three music-box keys that activate the movement of the ship as well as begin a series of randomly generated sound bites and other audio components.

Mr. Morton and Ms. Shatz will discuss their project during a special Meet the Artists program, on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. in the Glyndor Gallery.

This installation will remain on view through Sunday, Nov. 29.

Call 718-549-3200.
