1. A 57-year-old woman told police that she went shopping at A&P Fresh at 5661 Riverdale Ave. on Aug. 8 at 9:40 a.m. While she was shopping inside the store, she placed her pocketbook on her cart and continued shopping. When she went to pay for her goods at the register, she discovered that her pocketbook was missing. Property taken included her $575 pocketbook, $400 in cash, a Gap credit slip worth $450, a $1,200 check, a $200 pin, a $400 necklace, a Chase credit card, a Citibank card and a host of store cards, including Macy’s, Target, Costco and Kohl’s. The grand larceny case is open to detectives.

2. Cannon Place burglary

Police said on Aug. 5 at 3 p.m., a 26–year-old man at 3470 Cannon Place stepped out of his home and locked the door of his apartment. Upon returning, he observed that the bottom lock of the door was off and the slam lock was on. He also noticed that a floor mat was moved out of place.  

Removed from the bedroom were $400 Beats headphones, $50 white headphones and a $250 Samsung tablet. The burglary is under investigation.

3. Assault arrest

A security guard was working at a thrift shop at 218 West 234th St. on Aug. 5 when a 60-year-old man entered the store with a shopping cart at 7:15 p.m. The security guard told the man that he could not enter the store with the cart. She attempted to place cuffs on the man and he resisted. He then punched her in the eye. The man was arrested and charged with assault.

4. Car theft

A 56-year-old man reported that he parked his blue 1984 Mustang, worth $10,000, at Reservoir and Webb avenues on Aug. 6 at 11 p.m. When he came out at 5:45 a.m. on Aug. 7, the vehicle was missing. There were no broken glass in the area from any broken window and the vehicle was not towed. The man has the keys in his possession. The grand larceny auto case is under investigation. 

5. Driving while impaired

A 37-year old man was arrested for driving while impaired on August 10 at 4:08 a.m. after police discovered him sleeping behind the wheel of his 2008 Nissan Altima at the intersection of  Henry Hudson Parkway and Manhattan College Parkway intersection. When cops approached the man’s vehicle, they detected a strong odor of alcohol. The man had a flushed face, watery, bloodshot eyes and could not stand on his own. His blood alcohol concentration level was .12, according to police.
