1. A 50-year-old woman was walking south on Arlington Avenue from West 232nd Street, when a woman hit her in the back of the head with a bottle of iced tea, police said. The victim, who reported the crime on Oct. 22 at 9:55 p.m., told police that she continued walking home and a man came from behind her, grabbed her purse and took off with it. The victim was taken to Allen Pavillion with pain in the back of her head. Her purse contained credit cards, her license, prescription glasses, keys, an insurance card and $40. The female suspect is described as being between 17 and 18 years old, black, between 5-feet-3-inches and 5-feet-5-inches tall, wearing a light purple jacket and tan pants. The male suspect is described as being the same age and race, between 5-feet-4-inches tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The case remains open.
2. Gunpoint robbery On Oct. 23, at 9:44 p.m. a woman reported being robbed at gunpoint in front of 3056 Independence Ave. while walking home. Police said she said was approached by somebody with a black firearm, who then forcibly removed her purple LG cell phone, worth $150. The case remains open. 3. Deli burglarized Police said that on Oct. 22, at 8:30 a.m., somebody reported that Sapitos Deli, at 5800 Mosholu Ave., had been burglarized. The lock on the gate was broken and the register was missing $1,050. The case remains open. 4. Garden-variety criminal Garden Gourmet, at 5665 Broadway, was burglarized on Oct. 22, when somebody forced the front gate open, stepped on the deli counter and entered the grocery store’s second floor office, police said. The thief made off with unknown property, according to police, and the incident was captured on surveillance video. The case remains open. 5. Unwelcome guest A 48-year-old woman told police she walked into her 2714 University Ave. building on Oct. 26 and noticed a number of items, including a 34-inch Toshiba plasma television worth $500, Gucci sunglasses worth $335, $2,000 in cash, a gold watch worth $800 and a bracelet worth $2,000, missing. The case remains open. Items in Police Beat are based on reports of crimes and arrests. Those arrested are not guilty unless they are convicted by a court.
