THE RIVERDALE Library, at 5540 Mosholu Ave., presents the following upcoming programs for young adults:

  • “Tuesday Teen Takeover,” a popular weekly program for ages 12 to 18, will take place on Tuesday, July 27, at 3 p.m. Participants will have the chance to play various board games, check out new materials that are just hitting the bookshelves, use laptop computers and show off their skills while competing in video game tournaments.
  • On Wednesday, July 28, at 3 p.m., the library will present “Retro Gaming: Chess,” a special program for ages 12 to 18. During this event, teen and tween chessmasters will have a chance to show off their skills against other local kids. Participants will be able to practice their strategies in preparation for the tournament that will be held at the end of the month and feature a prize for the winner.
  • The library will host “Teen Book Chat & Crafts,” a special interactive program for young adults, on Thursday, July 29, at 3 p.m. Local teens can hang out with their peers and chat about their favorite books, as well as create cool and interesting crafts. Complimentary snacks will be provided.

THE KINGSBRIDGE Library, at 280 W. 231st St., will host the next meeting of its weekly Teen Summer Reading Club, for ages 12 to 18, on Friday, July 23, at 4 p.m. During this event, visitors can meet new friends, discuss new books and participate in weekly raffles for extra prizes. Complimentary refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 718-548-5656.

THE RIVERFRONT Library, located at One Larkin Center, in downtown Yonkers, will hold a special interactive origami class for tweens and teens, today, Thursday, July 22, at 2 p.m. During this event, which will take place in the Teen Room on the third floor, librarian Jody Maier will demonstrate the art of Japanese paper folding and teach participants how to create a sailboat, pigeon, fish, swan and crane.
