The Larry the Locksmith Yan-Keys defeated the Salvatore’s of Soho Slicers on Saturday in game three of the South Riverdale Major Baseball Championship by a score of 11-3 to win the series 2-1.

In game one on June 15, the Slicers won 3-2, but the Yan-Keys bounced back and won game two the following day, 9-5.

In the first inning, the Yan-Keys earned a 3-0 lead thanks to a Grant Caile RBI double and an Andrew DeLeon RBI single. DeLeon also scored on a wild pitch.

The Yan-Keys continued their success when Isaiah Henry hit a three-run double with the bases loaded to extend their lead to 6-0 in the third inning. Ethan Alvarez hit a double of his own in the fourth to add a run to the lead.

However, the Slicers attempted a comeback in the fifth inning. Monte Zizzo drove in two runs on a double and Griffin Wong added a run with a RBI single, cutting the lead to 7-3.

However, the Yan-Keys were still too much for the Slicers. Caile and Henry each hit their second double of the game, each collecting an RBI. Henry Hubner and Jose Mateo both added a RBI single of their own to extend the lead to 11-3.

Caile finished the game 2-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored, and Hubner went 3-3 with 3 runs 1 RBI himself. The Slicers’ Jacob Schmeider went 2-2 with one run scored on the day.

Yan-Keys pitcher Elijah Fingal pitched a complete game, only allowing three runs over six innings. Besides the fifth inning, the Slicers had trouble collecting hits off the righty, as he was in control the whole game.

S. Riverdale Little League Minor Baseball

In the South Riverdale Little League Minor Baseball championship on Saturday, the ESF Rockets beat the Yo-Burger Sliders 11-1. Rockets’ pitchers Chase Howard, Caiden Howard and TJ Osbourne combined to hold the Sliders to one run, while Tyler Boyle and Jacob Siper contributed to the lead both in the field and at the plate. Sliders pitcher Andrew Smith pitched and batted well in the game, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Rockets.
