Color me RKA all over

Posted

Vibrant colors will bring the Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy community together Nov. 17 when the school hosts a color run on a 1.2-mile course at its 660 W. 236th St. campus.

There participants will be immersed in splashes of paint as they run through “color splash zones.”

The race begins at 10 a.m., and includes a race bib, color packet and a T-shirt if participants register by Nov. 2.

Proceeds for the event support RKA’s after-school clubs.

Outdated rule stops public school update

If it feels like New York’s public schools are stuck in the 20th century, you might be right.

Current policy prohibits schools from purchasing portable technology with capital funds, including tablet computers like iPads and Kindles.

Bronx borough president Ruben Diaz Jr., wants to change that, however, penning a letter to city comptroller Scott Stringer, telling him such rules are outdated and need to be changed.

ELLIS families gather for annual feast

At the English Language Learners and International School, it’s not just about the academic family, but also the families who take care of their students.

That’s why on Nov. 21 ELLIS will hold its annual family Thanksgiving event, allowing the entire student body, parents and faculty to break bread.

Afterward, students will participate in volunteer opportunities.
