Ignore old fossils

Posted

To the editor:

One need not be “a very stable genius” to feel the upsurge of support for progressive Democrats in the forthcoming New York primaries for state and local office.

Anyone with awareness can feel the ground moving for the Cynthia Nixons, Alessandra Biaggis, et al.

Those establishment types who associate with “big money” candidates like Andrew Cuomo and Jeffrey Klein remind me of some of the people portrayed in “Inherit the Wind,” the old play about the Tennessee trial of the teacher who taught evolution.

Those clingers to the past marched around singing, “Give me that old-time religion, it’s good enough for me!”

Less then a century later, they are seen as social fossils.
