Posted

Founder and director of the Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project, Kyes Stevens is coming to Sarah Lawrence College to speak on Education as Activism on Tuesday, February 20th, at Heimbold Visual Arts Center’s Donnelley Film Theatre. This event is free to attend and begins at 5:30 p.m.

Kyes Stevens in her lecture will share her experience behind the creation of the The Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project (APAEP). The APAEP is a program that provides access to an arts and humanities education that prisoners in Alabama may not otherwise have access to. Currently, the APAEP brings pre-college and college courses to 10 out of the 15 major prisons in Alabama. In 2016, the APAEP aided in the launching of the first Bachelor of Science degree in the Alabama prison system.
