Museum Curator Apppointed to Prize Committee

Dr. Sandra Sider, who has served as curator for the Texas Quilt Museum since 2011 (www.texasquiltmuseum.org), is selected as one of the jurors for the prestigious Awards of Excellence from the Association of Art Museum Curators. The award category in publications is Outstanding Catalogue from museums with operating budgets up to $4 million. Dr. Sider, past president of Studio Art Quilt Associates, has authored numerous books and articles pertaining to quilt history and aesthetics. She holds an M.A. in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Her narrated PowerPoint lectures on Texas Quilt Museum exhibitions contribute to the Museum’s popular educational programming. Dr. Sider’s blog, “Textile News,” has created an online community of more than 600 subscribers at http://www.sandrasider.com.weblog. She resides in New York City, working for the Museum online from her Bronx studio and occasionally traveling to La Grange. The 2016 Awards of Excellence will be announced at the AAMC annual conference in Houston in May.
