No 1 trains this weekend in the Bronx

Posted

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is suspending 1 train service north of 137th Street beginning early Saturday morning.

Line work — including track replacement across the Harlem River Bridge — will cut off train service to 12 stops begining at 3:30 a.m., on Saturday, and running through 10 p.m., on Sunday night.

Local affected stops include Van Cortlandt Park/242nd Street, 238th Street, 231st Street and Marble Hill/225th Street. Other stops where there will be no trains include 215th Street, 207th Street, Dyckman Street, 191st Street, 181st Street, 168th Street, 157th Street and 145th Street.

Those looking to get into Manhattan and beyond can take the A train, the M3 or M100 buses, or free shuttles instead. 1 trains will run between 137th Street and South Ferry.

Weekend work will affect A trains as well, as both uptown A and C subways will run express from 59th Street/Columbus Circle to either 145th Street or 168th Street because of structural improvements at 145th and 168th streets. Those looking to make local stops will need to jump on a C or a local A train heading downtown.

A trains (and C trains) continue to skip 163rd Street/Amsterdam Avenue in both directions until the fall.
