No hidden agendas

Over recent years, I have attended many and varied community board meetings. Sometimes I wonder about hidden agendas, so I was quite pleased to notice a person who always spoke for the good of those she represents.

Rosemary Ginty makes a comment and listeners know that here is a person who has thought through on a topic, done research on it, and personally did fact-finding. She not only knows the history of the community, she has the foresight to consider decisions in the light of possible negative ramifications which many hadn’t considered.

Words like “competent,” “intelligent,” “independent” and “proficient” come to mind. her soft-spoken knowledgeable responses come with a strong backbone. Common sense and practicality loom large in her character, and her character speaks to total commitment to this community — all segments of it.

So I wondered about The Riverdale Press making much ado of a decision to allow for, yes, another meeting to allow for, yes, more democratic airing of thought. There were legitimate pros and cons regarding financial outlay, but once again, given the timeframe and the exigency of the situation, Ms. Ginty came down in favor of community stakeholders.

Unlike others, there is no hidden agenda in Ginty’s decision.
