Nora Donahue loved God, and she loved her family

Nora (Moran) Donahue passed away Oct. 19, 2018, at the age of 90.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles, whom she married in 1958. She was born in Manhattan to Nora Coyne and Michael Moran.

She and her husband moved to Riverdale in 1963. She was a devout parishioner at St. Gabriel’s Church for the past 55 years, and was known for her enduring friendship with coworkers, neighbors and community members.

She will be remembered for her unyielding devotion to God and to her family, her sharp intellect and wit, her excellent taste, and her deep concern for everyone around her.

She is survived by daughters Jean, Bernadine, Deirdre and Tara; sons Charles and Michael; and siblings Patricia Quinn, John Moran, Dorothy Moran, Loretta Martinez, Frances Moran and Bernadette Moran. She’s also survived by grandchildren Alicia and Charles Holland; Kaitlyn and Kristin Sheehan; Siobhan, Collen and Meaghan Donahue; Gerard Williams; and Charles, Lucy and Joseph Donahue.

A wake was held Oct. 22 at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave., while a Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 23 at St. Gabriel’s Church.

Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.

Arrangements were handled by Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home.
