Obituary - Rose Teicher

Posted

Rose Teicher, a 40 year resident of Riverdale, died on April 4, 2013 at the age of 98. She grew up in Manhattan in a family of eight children. As a young woman during the Depression, she worked for a stamp dealer in New York, then got married to Dr. Samuel Spector, a dentist in the Bronx, and raised her family, along with helping her husband in his office. When Samuel passed away in 1979, Rose – always an independent woman – worked as a dental assistant in Manhattan. Later in life, she married Leonard Teicher of Riverdale and enjoyed traveling and seeing her family grow. Rose was blessed to see all of her grandchildren married and to hold and hug her four great grandchildren. She had lifelong interests in education, art and music and passed these on to her family.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn Dickholtz, Alan Spector and Bert Spector, 7 grandchildren – Daniel, Howard, Andrew, Rachel, Aaron, Sam and Naomi, and 4 great grandchildren – Benjamin, Emily, Fiona and Ruben.

Ms. Teicher’s funeral was held at Schwartz Brothers Jeffer Memorial Chapel, 114-03 Queens Boulevard, Queens, NY on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 1:00pm. Her family suggests donations in her memory be given to her favorite charitable organization, Hadassah, for which she served as a local chapter President.
