Pedestrian killed in Broadway crosswalk

A 72-year-old woman died early yesterday morning after she was hit by a car while crossing Broadway earlier in the week.

The woman, who police have yet to identify, was crossing Broadway Monday afternoon just before 1:30 near West 230th Street when a black Honda traveling westbound on Exterior Street made a left turn on Broadway, striking the woman in the crosswalk.

The woman was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital on Third Avenue, where she remained in critical condition until succumbing to her injured just before 6 a.m., Wednesday, according to police.

The Honda driver remained on scene, and although the investigation continues, no arrests have been made.
