Police looking for woman who refused to return dropped wallet

Posted

One woman apparently feels "finders, keepers" is actually a law we're allowed to follow, and is now wanted by the police for questioning over allegedly refusing to return another woman's dropped wallet.

It all happened on the mezzanine of the West 231st Street train station at Broadway on the afternoon of Dec. 16. It was a 68-year-old woman was buying a MetroCard from one of the kiosks located outside the 1 train turnstiles when she dropped  her wallet.

Another woman — which the New York Police Department describes as an Hispanic female between 50 and 60 years, last seen wearing a tan jacket, green-striped pants and carrying a black purse — picked up the wallet, but refused to return it to its owner. Police added the purse contained $100, but they're treating the crime as a grand larceny.

Video of the woman police are searching for can be found by clicking here.
