Reconsider Lyft, Uber sanctions

To the editor:

As a social worker who lives in and services the Bronx area, the city council’s proposal to cap ride-hailing services would be detrimental to me and my clients.

I don’t drive, and I rely on Lyft to make visits to client homes that are hard to reach and don’t have reliable public transportation around them. Without ride-hailing programs, I would have to incur higher transportation costs for which I don’t get reimbursed.

I’m asking the council and the mayor to please allow ride-hailing to continue, and work with Lyft and other companies to find solutions that can improve the livelihood of taxi and livery cab drivers.
